Dr. Pezeshki was previously the main founder of Santur Corporation (2000-2008), and acting as the President, Director, VP of Engineering, and CTO of the company at various times he developed the key ideas and managed their transition to manufacturing: the tunable laser that dominated the transition of long haul and metro networks from fixed-wavelength lasers to tunable, and more recently the parallel transceiver that now leads the world in 100Gb/s Ethernet.

Prior to Santur, Dr Pezeshki managed the Development group at SDL (now part of JDS Uniphase) and a similar group at IBM Research in Yorktown Heights. He obtained his Ph.D. from Stanford University and has approximately 30 patents and 100 peer reviewed publications and presentations.

Art Stein joined Kaiam in 2013. His experience spans both major publicly traded companies and high tech startups.  Most recently, he was CFO/COO at BridgeWave Communications, a high-capacity wireless radio manufacturer.  Previously, Art held various senior and executive level positions at Hewlett Packard, Agilent Technologies, and Guide Technology. He has  specific strengths in M&A transactions, fundraising, strategic planning, offshore manufacturing, and overall financial management. Art holds an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of Washington.

Rob Kalman, VP of Marketing

Dr. Rob Kalman has 20+ years of experience in successfully delivering leading edge optical communications technology and products. He was a founding member of Luminous Networks, ONI Systems, and Optivision, where he held various leadership roles in Engineering and Marketing. He has a Ph.D. in EE from Stanford.

Jeremy Dietz, VP of Global Sales & Marketing

Jeremy Dietz

VP of Global Sales & Marketing

Jeremy Dietz brings more than 25 years of Sales and Marketing experience to Kaiam. His proven thought leadership and dedication to improvement result in strategy development with cross functional implementation that benefit our valued customers. Prior to joining Kaiam, he was Director of the Optoelectronics SBU at CEL where he led a team responsible for sales, marketing and technical support while also fulfilling a business development role. He also worked for Sharp in marketing for Optoelectronics for 10 years prior to CEL.  Jeremy holds a BS, Electrical Engineering from University of Wyoming and avid endurance triathlete.

Helena Smith, VP of HR

Helena Smith

Helena is a results-oriented, business-focused Human Resources Leader with extensive global experience in complex multicultural organizations gained over more than 20 years. She has demonstrated leadership skills with a strong track record of developing and implementing world-class HR strategies that drive improved organizational performance, build organizational capability and increase employee contribution and engagement.


Prior to joining Kaiam, Helena spent almost 15 years at Cisco, performing a variety of HR Director roles across all areas of the business, both domestically and internationally.


Helena holds both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Commerce and IT and a Postgraduate Diploma in HR Management with distinction from Glasgow Caledonian University. She is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD.


Simon Richmond

VP of Operations

Simon joined Kaiam in 2015. He has more than 25 year’s experience across a variety of Operations, Planning, Procurement and Supply Chain roles and industries. Most recently he worked with Babcock International as part of the team responsible for managing the Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier project. Prior to that he worked for 10 years with Wolfson Microelectronics, a fabless semiconductor company, planning the supply chain to supply millions of audio chips to customers like Apple, Samsung and Sony. Simon has an MBA from Napier university, Edinburgh.
