The KAIAM 48-channel, 100GHz, Low Loss Gaussian Athermal Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AAWG), for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) applications, is a fully passive device. It has no control electronics and consumes no electrical power. The rugged design contains no moving parts, and the optical performance is guaranteed from -40ºC to 85ºC.


In a de-multiplexing function the device will spatially separate a stream of ITU channels from a single-mode input fiber into different single mode fibers, each corresponding to an individual ITU channel in the specified wavelength band. The device can also be applied in the reverse format for multiplexing applications. The AAWG is available for multiple channel plans.
